Project update
Hello all! It's been a while since our last update so here is the run down of a few things that have been going on here at Ben's Centre:
Training with Doncaster College Over the past few weeks at Ben’s our clients and volunteers have completed the first module of their catering NVQ. They have demonstrated their abilities by make lasagne, baking scones and preparing vegetables as part of our healthy eating initiative. Staff and clients have reluctantly agreed to taste test!! We are hoping this course, which is assessed by Doncaster College, will be good for client confidence as well as increasing their job prospects for the future. Everyone involved have expressed their enthusiasm about the next module and what skills they can learn.
Gourmet Friday All the food preparation and training has gone to our heads lately and as a result we will now transform each Friday into “Gourmet Friday” where we offer a three course meal to clients. Usually consisting of a healthy soup, a hearty main course and a delicious desert; all home-made and tasty. One of our clients has experience working as a pastry chef and has been treating us all to wonderful deserts, including: Baked Alaska, profiteroles and apple strudel. She is also starting her level 3 pastry NVQ soon which means more sweet treats are on the way!!
Good morning job seekers! “Work Club” Coming soon… Starting on the 8th August, Ben’s Centre will be the host venue of a new, weekly work club. Aimed primarily at clients with issues around alcohol misuse, the club features Ben’s Centre’s brand new IT suite and highly trained and experienced staff. We aim to help clients to put together comprehensive and attractive CV’s, assist in the process of finding those vacancies, and provide support with stationary and reference materials.
